What the warrior renounces is anything in his experience that is a barrier between himself and others. In other words, renunciation is making yourself more available, more gentle and open to others.

My apologies I must be displacing my silliness.
A warrior of the heart we are dealing with the Astral Soul here. There is however several Hagakure from The Bushido Teachings where an attachment to ones sword may get in the way of ones true nature as a warrior
I can see from a purely materialistc view that if one was on a field of phisical battle then weapons of defense and offense would be a necessity.-

That's OK for most people, but sounds a bit dangerous for a warrior - to give up his shield and armour. I think he should become a civilian again first!
